Anxiety
What is Anxiety?
The American Psychological Association defines anxiety as an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and physical changes. Anxiety is a natural human response when we feel under real or imagined threat. It can manifest through our thoughts, feelings, and physical reactions. In many situations, anxiety can be helpful in keeping us alive.
Occasional anxiety is normal and can be an expected throughout life. For example, it is very typical to experience anxiety before an exam or a job interview. Many people worry about common life concerns, such as financial, health, job, or family issues. These feelings of tension, worry, and fear are often temporary. But some people find it difficult to control these worries and the impact they have on a person's functioning.
